Five Strangest Remedies For Hair Loss

Throughout the years of dealing with hairloss treatments, we’ve come across some real corkers! It’s amazing what lengths people will go to, employing treatments that have stemmed from old wives tales and beyond:

A paste of black pepper and lemon seeds in lemon juice: If you can handle the mild burning of freshly-ground pepper corns on your bare scalp, the regular application of this mixture is said to stop hair loss.

Red pepper poultice: A folk remedy, this involves the application of a paste of ground red pepper in oil on to the scalp. This is believed to increase the blood circulation, and generate cell division and growth of hair from the follicles, although unsurprisingly, can hurt.

Onion: Rubbing a cut onion on the scalp before shower regularly is said to help prevent hair loss and stimulate further hair growth. The stench aside, this is a favourite as the high content of sulphur in the onion is said to help hair growth.

Egg yolks in vinegar: This smelly concoction is an age old remedy for hair loss, and is said to provide nourishment to the hair from the roots.

Hypnosis: Weird as it might sound, hypnosis is touted to be effective in many people with hair loss problems. It is believed to reduce stress and anxiety (which are a major causes of hair loss).

Though these might in fact prove to be effective for minor hair loss problems, most hair loss cases can only be cured by treating the root cause with proper medication.

The male pattern hair loss, for instance, is caused due to the increased levels of a hormone DHT in certain men. This condition in turn, can only be treated by inhibiting the production of this hormone in their body. There are hairloss treatments available online.

At Menscare, we have a range of hairloss treatments like Propecia and Regaine which are the currently used prescription drugs for hair loss. Please fill out our secure online form for confidential consultation with a UK doctor.
